Revolution

Well bloggers, today is the 11 days until my 16th birthday mark and I think it's going to be the sweetest one yet. Plans are still in the process but I'm sure and hoping it will all come to tether in the end.

Currently, I'm sitting in my dads office updating my blog and waiting for my shift at the hospital to start. Today, I'm working in cardiac rehab which is where elderly people who have had either open heart surgery r have experienced a heart attack go to recover and work th.eur heart muscles again. It's an amazing opportunity meeting all the people and taking blood pressures and monitoring heart rates.

Also, tonight I'm going to see Step Up: Revolution with two of my friends and I really can't wait!!

Until maybe tomorrow but probably not,

Paris: Part 1

Here we go again!!

I feel so bad that I keep betraying my blog and procrastinating to upload new posts and I have even considered completely deleting it due to my lack of consistency but for some reason I can't bring myself to just stop writing! I think in the new year I'll work at trying to post more because I'm going to get involved with my church in a special media production and hopefully by the end of 2012 I can have my own YouTube channel!

Well...it happened. The big kahuna, the best thing that has ever happened to me in the history of ever...I, Timmerie Lewis of the blogger "I Love Melvin" went to Paris. A week in the city of love and lights with the people I love was anything and everything I could have ever asked for.
Get ready for a big post ladies and gents because I have a lot to say and I have lots of time to kill!!
Not only was Paris absolutely beautiful but it was even better then I could have imagined. We stayed in the cutest little hotel that had only 2 rooms per floor. Right across from our super tiny room was a day spa and it was in a tiny courtyard that was barely noticeable from the outside. The courtyard was so peaceful it's like all of Paris slept whenever I was there. Not only was it in a beautiful courtyard, but surrounding our hotel was all the stores you could ever imagine! There was a Sephora, a store called Etam (where I got the most amazing trench coat ever) a Zara's, a Mac, a McDonald's and a small market down the road where you could buy fresh fruit and sand witches and some quality home made "Parisienne" products.

The flight there was absolutely dreadful and that's a compliment. The plane was nice of course but even with your own personal TV and the choice of over 20 movies and television shows, we were forced to sleep for 4 hours because of the time change. It was awful. I didn't get one wink if sleep and to make matters worse, when we got to Paris it was 12 in the afternoon when we had left Canada at midnight. So, all in all, we were up and touring the beautiful city having been up for 36 straight hours prior.

I was able to look past the horrible plane experience however because our hotel was only 5 minutes away from the Eiffel Tower and it was the very first thing we did when we got to Paris. Unfortunately, we were unable to climb it because there had been an accident earlier that week where someone tried to climb it and so they had to evacuate the tower and due to all the hustle and bussel, 2 of the 3 service elevators were broken so the line had doubled in wait time. While my brother and grandpa decided to go see how long the wait would be I waited aside by myself and I was approached by this young women who wanted me to sign something. I tried to be polite and say no for what seemed like forever, and eventually she rolled her eyes and kept walking. I brushed it off and continued waiting. Just when I thought the worst was over, a young guy about my age comes over and asks me to sign the same thing! I tied to do the same thing I did with the girl but he would not take no for an answer. He grabbed my hand, shoved the pen into my palm and kept begging. I dropped e pen, said no in the loudest voice I could and turned away, feeling confident. Just then he grabs my arms from behind and tells me that I need to sign this. I was scared! Really scared! Scad to the point I almost started crying. I ran away as fast as I could to where my mom and my grandma had gone to go to e washroom and vowed to never stand alone ever again under the Eiffel Tower. Even though we had a rough patch,we however saw this as an opportunity and headed to the famous Arc instead.

We took a "hop on hop off" tour bus to the Arc and went down that Champs De Elise's (which is spelt completely wrong but I'll fix it later) and it was crazy busy because everyone was preparing for the "Tour De France" but oh my goodness it was so worth it. Not only did I see the Arc, I climbed it!! The stairs were never ending but it was so worth the climb because seeing the beautiful city from above was breathtaking. Everywhere you looked you could see the Eiffel Tower and it was beautiful and trust me that's just an understatement. Seeing all the people shopping and walking around in all their fancy clothes and purses with their huge stilettos and cigarettes was just so intriguing. On top of the amazing view I also got a new charm for my Pandora bracelet from the Louvre that is actually the Arc!

The Louvre was interesting. It was definitely a super long day jam packed with lots of walking and listening to French people and their attempt to speak English for our benefit but me and my brother tried to make the most of the 5 hours we spent in the huge pyramid. I must have seen over 1000 statues of famous Greek gods or something, not to mention the millions of paintings of little cupids and babies with their butts hanging out, millions of tourists yelling languages I've never even heard of and so much clicking of the camera that it was permanently in my head for the rest of the trip. While my grandparents and mother decided to listen to the historical aspect of things, my brother and I were much more interested in mimicking the statues and trying our very best to get pictures with every one of them. For the most part, I'd say we succeeded!!

All jokes aside, it really was an amazing day and I learned so much about the different histories of the Greek and the French. They really take pride in their past and all the great things their ancestors did back in the olden days and I envy that passion in them. My favorite part of the day though was seeing the Mona Lisa. It was surrounded by tourist and security guards, and blocked off by a large rail that I would never been able to pass without being tackled to the ground but I saw the real thing!!

Okay, enough about the tours and the typical Paris to-do list, let's get into the best part. I think you all know what it is, and if you don't then. . .hi, I'm Timmerie Lewis and I love to shop. THERE I said it, the best part about Paris was the shopping. The historians are probably on the floor gasping for breath right now as I have seemingly demolished everything they love about France but the shopping is what would make me go back. The stores in Paris are so elegant and poise, they make me feel like a rich person even if I can't afford a pair of under-wear there. The smell of new merchandise, sprayed with 1,000 dollar perfume and made with French love sewn in the stitching. It's an art, really, it's an art. The shops don't open until around 11 and are only open until 7, at first I thought this to be ridiculous seen as I would much rather shop during the morning but then i realized that 11-7 is 8 hours, so all, in all, running boutiques could be how they make a living. 40 hours a week in Paris, in a boutique? Yeah I'd say that's the life. <3

I had the time of my life. I learned so many new and amazing things and I have bought so many amazing clothes and purses I'm so happy! On top of all that, I'm extremely thankful to my grandparents who planned and paid for me to experience something I've wanted to experience for forever. I love them both very much. Also, to my mom and brother for dealing with my constant need to get a picture of me with the Eiffel tower in every different outfit and hairstyle I could think of. I'll try my very hardest to upload some photos but I'll do that in a separate post so that you can glide through the album.

Thanks so much for reading you crazy bloggers!
